Lydia Lyons · Creative Director
Lydia Lyons has always believed that a well-designed home changes how you live in it. That conviction has shaped every project over a 20-year career, from early work at Sunset Magazine and a design-build firm to founding Lydia Lyons Designs, now one of the Bay Area's most trusted residential studios.
Her degree in Interior Architecture from UC Berkeley gave her something most designers don't have: a deep fluency in construction. She's as comfortable in a site meeting with a general contractor as presenting a furniture plan to a client, and her projects reflect that rare combination of artistry and precision.
Every project begins with listening. To your goals, your daily routines, the way your family moves through a home. From there, Lydia and her team collaborate closely with your architect and builder, navigating construction complexity so you don't have to.
Lydia has been recognized with nine Best of Houzz awards, featured in LUX Magazine and Luxe Interiors + Design, listed in the Architectural Digest Pro Directory, and earned her NKBA certification. She brings that depth of experience to every project.

Our Process
Every project is different. What stays consistent is the approach: close collaboration, clear communication, and an eye for the details that make a home feel finished rather than decorated.
Based in San Francisco, we work with clients throughout the Bay Area and nationwide, with a growing presence in Palm Springs.
What OUR CLIENTS ARE Saying
"We hired Lydia to help us with a major house remodel ($1MM+). She is incredible. She listened to our ideas, added her own insights, and helped us make decisions resulting in a spectacular new home. Very easy going, with none of the pretentiousness of other designers with whom we've worked. I couldn't recommend her more."
— B.H., Los Altos Hills, CA
"Lydia is an amazing designer. She invests the time to understand her clients' preferences and styles, then is very artful at introducing new ideas and helping clients expand their thinking. She is also great at working within a budget and helping determine where you should spend more versus where you can spend less and get the same design effect."
— M.H., San Jose, CA
"In this hot SF Bay Area market, there are way too many fly-by-night operators preying on first-time remodelers and new home constructions. Lydia Lyons is probably the hardest working, least assuming, most creative, and equally practical designer I've ever worked with. What sets her apart is her customer focus. She makes sure that there are no loose ends. Lydia's confidence and lack of arrogance won us over — she not only had a great sense of style, she also knew the sub-contractors and suppliers who could get the job done. She's truly one of the best."
